Lofting Advertisements

Here's something I want to see, iPod ads adapted for iPod video behavior.

Presently iPod ads featuring undeniably hip youngsters in silhouette dancing to whatever music their iPod is pumping through those also-white ear buds. You know, you've all seen them.

Now imagine with me: A silhouette of a man in rumpled business attire... in an airport departure lounge... seated, hunched uncomfortably... watching the latest episode of Desperate Housewives or The Office.

Sure, it doesn't sound good, but if anybody can make that look attractive, it's the exceptional people at Apple marketing.

Bonus points if the suggested airport background is ORD or ATL.

How about an ad where an audiologist, wearing a serious expression, tells a person that they have permanent hearing loss, but breaks into a smile as the person leaves. Saying, "I love iPods!", the audiologist sticks their head into the waiting room, which is packed with people all listening to iPods at high volume, says "Next?", then yells "NEXT!!" at the top of their voice. People look startled, one looks up and yells back, "That's me!" to show that they obviously have hearing loss too.

I do not have to wear a suit, though they have been more and more appealing to me lately. When I wrote "business attire" I was thinking more about "business casual," which is still attire for business. Hang out in a departure gate on a weekday evening sometime. You'll see what I'm talking about.

As for the ad, aren't you forgetting the part where the first patient puts his ear buds back in as he exits through the waiting room?
